'Succession' leads the Emmy nominations

The drama series Succession scored 27 nominations for the 75th Emmy Awards and became the production with the most nominations, followed by The last of us and The white , with 24 and 23 respectively, announced yesterday the American Television Academy. In the particular dispute between the platforms, HBO prevailed when it placed its three productions at the top of the ranking.

This time, the three productions with the most nominations will compete in the drama category with Andor, Better call Saul, The crown, Yellowjackets and La casa del dragón (the latter also from HBO). Despite the success of the fourth and final season of Succession, which surpassed its 24 nominations last year, the record of Game of Thrones is still far behind, with 32 in 2019. The presence of this production on the multimillion Roy family, which already won in the drama category in 2020 and 2022, was featured in all the traversals of the specialized press.

In the comedy section, the reign of Ted Lasso continues, who already has two consecutive Emmy awards for best comedy series and is on his way to a third. The third season offered him 21 nominations this Wednesday with his protagonist, Jason Sudeikis, who was again considered as best actor in this category.

The 75th Emmys are set for September 18 in Los Angeles, but the celebration could be in jeopardy if the Screen Actors Guild follows in the footsteps of the Screenwriters Guild and goes on strike over a disagreement with the major film and television studios.
