Puigdemont shares the poem with which David Fernández announced the agreement to invest him

The agreement to invest Pedro Sánchez between the PSOE and Junts has been made, pending the official announcement by the two parties that could occur at any moment. But at the center of the agreement is Carles Puigdemont, the de facto leader of JxCat who has carried the weight of the negotiations from Brussels. And Puigdemont spoke this Thursday, he did so to commemorate the independence referendum of November 9, 2014, which today marks nine years and for which, among others, his predecessor Artur Mas was tried and convicted.

But the message that Puigdemont shared on the social network X, formerly Twitter, could also be a cryptic pre-announcement of the agreement with the PSOE. The MEP has shared a verse from Salvador Espriu's poem Indesinenter, non-stop in Latin, and which can be interpreted as a metaphor for the national awakening of Catalonia: Deixar de ser esall gos mesell que llepava l'aspra mà que l'ha fermat tant de temps, i esdevenir únic senyor ("Stop being that cowardly dog that licked the rough hand that has subdued him for so long, and become the only lord"). "This is what moves us since 9 years ago today we started walking again," added the former Catalan president to commemorate the anniversary.

The fact is that the name of this poem, Indesinenter, set to music by the Valencian singer-songwriter Raimón and converted into an anti-Franco anthem in the transition, was the one used by the then CUP deputy David Fernàndez on January 9, 2016 to announce the agreement with JuntsxYes to invest precisely Puigdemont and which represented a step to the side of Artur Mas.

The former president shared the message shortly before 8 in the morning, when the majority of media outlets have taken the agreement between Junts per Catalunya and the Socialists for granted and when the leadership of the party and the representatives of the party in the Cortes Generales They went to Brussels to review the agreement. Puigdemont himself, the general secretary, Jordi Turull, the president, Laura Borràs, and the leader of the formation in Madrid, Míriam Nogueras, are already in Brussels.

Turull has precisely also signed up for the commemoration of 9-N but in his case in a less cryptic way. "On this day, November 9, 2014, Catalonia began a path of no return. Without resignations, with persistence and determination we will move forward!" wrote the general secretary of Junts en X.

On behalf of the socialists, the organization secretary and Sánchez's most trusted person, Santos Cerdán, and his deputy, Juan Francisco Serrano, remain in the Belgian capital.
