Pilar Alegría, new spokesperson for the Executive

Minister Pilar Alegría assumes the representation of the new Spanish Government in place of Isabel Rodríguez, who in the previous legislature was in charge of reporting on the decisions of the Executive. This morning Rodríguez will assume the Housing and Urban Agenda portfolio.

Pilar Alegría, who until now had the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training under her responsibility, now also takes on the responsibility of reporting on the initiatives of the Central Government and also takes charge of the Sports area, which in the 'previous legislature was under the tutelage of the Ministry of Culture, led until now by Miquel Iceta.

Alegría, who studied teaching and began her political career in Aragon, was already appointed, by Pedro Sánchez, spokesperson for the PSOE executive in July of last year, when he remodeled the party's federal leadership , in which he also appointed deputy and ex-Lehendakari Patxi López spokesperson of the socialist group in Congress, and María Jesús Montero, number two of the party to replace Adriana Lastra.

The appointment of Alegría as spokesperson confirms Sánchez's will to form an Executive with a marked political character.

Isabel Rodríguez, who is no longer the spokesperson, will remain in the Executive with the portfolio of Housing and Urban Agenda, two matters that until now belonged to the department led by Minister Raquel Sánchez, who has been left out of the new Government spanish

The Transport area, which until now was part of the ministry led by Sánchez, is split and taken over by another very political profile of the central government, the former mayor of Valladolid Óscar López.

Pedro Sánchez, in the institutional declaration in which he presented his new Cabinet, stressed the importance of the Spanish Government having recovered a portfolio specifically dedicated to housing.
