Pere Aragonès describes Israel's actions in Gaza as "barbarism".

"With regard to the situation in the Middle East, there are many of us who have denounced the barbarism that is currently taking place and the impact that is taking place on international humanitarian law in Gaza." Pere Aragonès has expressed himself this time more forcefully than on other occasions as a result of the effects that the Israeli invasion has had on the civilian population so far.

From the town of Yogin, in South Korea, asked if he understood the criticism that Pedro Sánchez has received with his statements against “the massacre” in Palestinian territory, the president has implicitly taken his side.

Until now, the head of the Government had positioned himself against the "indiscriminate attacks against the population, Israeli and Palestinian", shared with the Pope the need for "diplomatic solutions" and had requested peace. Today he has gone one step further and has pointed directly to Israel, as the President of the Government did last week during his visit to the Hebrew country.

Aragonès also demanded this Monday a definitive ceasefire. “This is the position of the Government of Catalonia”, he wanted to underline, while he recalled that the Catalan Executive has expanded its commitment to the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (Unrwa). In October, the Government donated 800,000 euros in response to the blockade of basic supplies in Gaza.

“If anyone thinks that today they can govern Catalonia or any other country closed at home, they are wrong. The interests of Catalonia must be defended in all places, but also in other territories where most of the time we have the opportunity to collaborate, but also on other occasions there may be some discrepancy," the president of the Generalitat in clear reference to Israel.
