Mónica Oltra cools her return: "For now, I will continue to take refuge in the safety of my silence"

The reappearance of the former vice president of the Generalitat, Mónica Oltra, generated a lot of expectation yesterday. Just one year after her resignation after being charged by the TSJ for the case of abuse of a minor under the supervision of her Ministry, the former leader of Compromís participated in the presentation of the book by journalist Ernesto Ekaizer Jaque Mate and ruled out her immediate return to the political front line. Despite the fact that in recent weeks there had been speculation about her reinstatement, after a first judicial triumph, Oltra was clear about it: "For now, I will continue to take refuge in the safety of my silence." And it is that the judicial process in which she is immersed has not yet finished. Of course, he left the door open for the future.

In a full room at the Carmen Contemporary Culture Center, Oltra explained that he is "rebuilding himself as a person" after his resignation and his investigation and although he has stated that "he will never, ever leave politics." After months of silence (yes, he had participated in other presentations) he explained the moment that is happening: "Me and my family have been subjected to an attack of tremendous moral, reputational, family, economic and emotional ruin and at the moment alive in the exile of my silence. Today is an excursion because I deeply admire Ernesto and I thank him very much for continuing to count on me today. It was easy three years ago, not today".

However, Oltra added something more to his speech in what can be interpreted as a scolding at the now acting president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, whose relationship ended up breaking off after almost two legislatures of a shared government due to a lack of trust and support. Playing with the title of the book, Oltra pointed out that after 28-M the king "is already mate" and reminded him that in chess games "it is not convenient to sacrifice the queen".

As she did a year ago on the day of her resignation, the former vice president regretted "the use of the courts to eliminate political opponents", asked that instead of lawfare they speak directly of "dirty war" and had a memory for the leader of Spain 2000 José Luis Roberto and the head of Ribera Salud, Alberto de Rosa.

Oltra wanted to make it clear that they will never silence her and this operation and the recent electoral triumph of the right "is a check, but there is no mate if the people defend ourselves."
