Junts supports the tax increase of the bipartite government of Mataró

The government of Mataró (Maresme) chaired by the socialist mayor, David Bote, has reached a financial stability agreement that for the next four years allows it to establish the bases of municipal taxation. The increase in the Real Estate Tax (IBI) of up to 20% in a descending manner until 2027 stands out.

The document signed between the three political forces allows for a sufficient majority to promote the budgetary policy established by the socialist councilor, Miquel Àngel Vadell, who has already warned of the need to adjust municipal taxes upwards. In this way, PSC (11 councilors), Mataró en Comú (two councilors) and the three representatives of JxCat obtain the majority of the 27 councilors that make up the municipal corporation.

Alfons Canela, spokesperson for JxMataró, signed the agreement with the mayor and Sergi Morales which consists, according to the press release sent later, of improving the lives of citizens and improving the promotion and positioning of the city. To achieve this, it must be provided with a competent, solvent and effective administration that, at a minimum, guarantees the portfolio of services.

The mandate plan, after this pact, will incorporate a set of actions to be promoted, according to Junts' requirement, such as security, improvements in the licensing service, a reservation agreement for 30% of officially protected housing, a study of the sponsorship bank project, study the viability of a bus station in the city, as well as highlight alternatives around Plaza Gran and the Can Cruzate space as a priority.
