Mayor Jaume Collboni's government plans to renovate the pavement of 136 streets in Barcelona, as well as 145 children's swing areas, 26 urban lifts and 24 escalators, among other things, during the remainder of its mandate. The deputy mayor and councilor for Urbanism, Laia Bonet, yesterday wanted to reveal these data to illustrate the determination of the socialist executive to take care of the city's public space, one of the fundamental aspects of the Endreça Plan.

"It's not about repairing things once they're already damaged or waiting for the end of their useful life - the deputy mayor stressed - but about replacing them sooner. It is about the new philosophy in the maintenance of the city that we are implementing. In recent years, a lot was invested in the transformation of the city, but not so much in maintenance." Caring for the image of the city is one of Mayor Collboni's top priorities. The socialist is well aware that certain unedifying prints wore down Ada Colau more than expected.

Bonet also detailed that the different districts of the city will manage as they deem most appropriate up to 180 of the 435 million euros that the City Council plans to dedicate to these tasks during the remainder of the mandate. The decentralization of investments must allow the initiatives to be fine-tuned even more and also to better adapt them to the particularities of each area of the city.
