Arrested in Murcia the fugitive former soldier accused of killing the gunsmith of a shooting club

The desperate escape of Roger L.S. it ended at mid-morning yesterday in an unexpected place, in Murcia. The 20-year-old ex-military man was arrested by the National Police after two women reported in terror that a man had forced them at gunpoint to take him by car from Barcelona to Murcia. After receiving the call, the National Police located the fugitive and arrested him. But those women had not been the only ones.

After the crime, the killer threatened another woman with a gun, whom he forced to take him from Canovelles to Barcelona. He intercepted her at a gas station and pointed his gun at her to drive him to the Catalan capital. He kidnapped the other two women while they were driving through the city. The National Police is in contact with the Mossos waiting to decide if the detainee is sent to a court in Barcelona or if the case is taken over by a court in Murcia. In any case, he will be charged with murder and three counts of illegal detention. In the next few hours the court will have to decide whether he will go to prison.

Roger L. S. he fled Canovelles after killing the manager of a shooting club. The young man, who had recently been a member of the center, was shooting from one of the cabins and at one point approached the gunsmith, who was sweeping the floor before closing. When he saw that he was on his back, he took the opportunity to fire five shots at him. The venue's security cameras captured the moment and show how the shots took place without any prior discussion. The killer opened fire without saying anything.

The person in charge, Jordi, in his early forties, was lying on the floor dying. There was no one else in the place. The ambulance paramedics who attended the scene minutes later tried to resuscitate the man and, despite the fact that he was still alive when they arrived, they ended up certifying his death.

In view of the facts, a young ex-military man who seizes two weapons, ends the life of a man and kidnaps three women in a desperate escape, one must ask what pushed Roger L.S. to plunge into this violent spiral. This is one of the unknowns that the Mossos are trying to solve, although at the moment there is no answer. The arrested person has no history and it is not known that he had any mental illness.

His unstoppable rampage began at 7:30 p.m., right when he fired the first shots. Armed and with three boxes of ammunition, he fled towards Barcelona. The first police reports indicated that the fugitive had entrenched himself in the Collserola mountain range. The Mossos deployed an extensive device with troops from several units to catch him and were working on the hypothesis that the suspect had changed his clothes and was still in the area yesterday morning. In fact, some cyclists and runners ran into checks by the Catalan police. But Roger L.S. he was already in Murcia.

The perpetrator started his military career, but left it voluntarily. He lived in a neighborhood of Les Franqueses del Vallès, in Corró d'Avall. He had signed up for the shooting club a few months ago. The members of the club barely knew him. It is common for the users of the center to have their own weapons, but as this was a new member for practice he used a gun that was left to him by the club and which he used to commit the crime and to kidnap the female drivers. When he was arrested, Roger L.S. he carried two pistols on him.

"They killed Jordi with a weapon from the club", lamented the users of the center yesterday. Some members of the Granollers Shooting Club approached the doors of the facilities yesterday to accompany each other and regret what had happened. Nobody understood anything, and they remembered with sadness that Jordi, whom they knew well because he had been working as a gunsmith at the club for several years. They believed that someone had been able to kill him in that way, for no apparent reason, and in such cold blood.
