A pregnant woman arrested for the death of her partner in Sant Adrià

Vague explanations, inconsistencies and an alibi difficult to maintain ended up taking Arlet, a 26-year-old young woman who was arrested on Monday by the Mossos d'Esquadra accused of having killed her boyfriend, Gerard, 33 years, both of Spanish nationality.

The crime happened on November 16 in a house in Sant Adrià de Besòs under strange circumstances. At first glance, it might seem that the investigators were facing a revenge made by some enemy for some murky issue. Maybe drugs or maybe some other issue... but when the Mossos started to pull the strings they saw that it didn't add up and the woman's alibi slowly faded away.

It was Arlet herself who called the emergency services around 2 p.m. She warned that she was badly injured and that her partner, the father of her future child, was lying dead on the ground. According to him, both had been stabbed by individuals who had broken into the home. The events took place in a mezzanine at number 58 Bogatell street, very close to the center of the municipality.

At first, although the account sounded strange to them, the investigators gave credibility to the woman's testimony. Apparently, the attack was carried out by two individuals who entered the house and first stabbed the woman in the leg and then stabbed her partner in the neck, causing her death. The case fell to the criminal investigation division of the northern metropolitan region, which began to make the first arrangements and contrast the woman's story. They looked for witnesses, they checked the security cameras of the businesses, but no neighbors had heard anything, no one saw the two suspects run away after committing the alleged attack, nor did the cameras catch any suspects leaving the property or going out running around Arlet's alibi completely disintegrated and the Mossos began to suspect his guilt. In fact, they believe the injuries he suffered and attributed to the alleged attack were actually self-inflicted. After killing his partner he self-harmed to give truth to his story.

After realizing that her alibi contained loopholes, she was arrested in Badalona. The arrested woman was brought before the head of the court of inquiry 5 of Badalona, who, after taking her statement, ordered her to be held in provisional prison without bail. The case is open for homicide or murder, a crime that will be specified as the investigation progresses. The investigation will also have to clarify why Arlet ended her boyfriend's life. Between the investigated and the victim there was no prior complaint or cause related to violence against women.
