A false package bomb directed against the judge in the Volhov case was intercepted

The security services of the City of Justice of Barcelona intercepted last Thursday a false package bomb directed against the investigating judge 1 of Barcelona, Joaquín Aguirre, according to the newspaper El Mundo and judicial sources have confirmed to La Vanguardia.

The envelope was intended to simulate a bomb and contained a thermostat that was supposed to act as a timer as shown in the photograph published by said media. The shipment was detected by security services last Thursday.

The package had no return address nor was it accompanied by any note or threat. The Mossos d'Esquadra have taken charge of the investigation and last Wednesday presented a complaint regarding these events that has not yet been distributed in court. Joaquín Aguirre is the investigating judge in the Volhov case, which investigates whether there were connections between Russian emissaries and the Government of Carles Puigdemont before declaring independence. He is also in charge of investigating the case against FC Barcelona for the Negreira case.
