Unemployment falls in April and in the Valencian Community there are 21,783 fewer unemployed than a year ago

Registered unemployment in the Valencian Community during the month of April fell by 4,854 people, 1.43% less than in the month of March, to stand at 335,444 unemployed.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics published this Thursday, in the last twelve months unemployment has fallen by 6.10%, which means 21,783 fewer unemployed people in the Valencian Community at the end of the first four-month period of 2023.

Social Security added 18,361 affiliates in the Community in April, 0.89% more than in March, and in the last twelve months the increase amounts to 60,066 people, representing 2.96%.

In Spain as a whole, Social Security affiliates increased by 238,436 people, a record figure for an April and the second best record in the entire series, while unemployment fell by 73,890 people to 2.78 million, levels that are not They have been seen since 2008 in a market animated by Easter and the start of the summer campaign.

According to the data provided this Thursday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations, with this advance in employment in April the number of average affiliates stood at a new maximum of 20.6 million.

Regarding the number of people registered in the offices of the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), it fell by 73,890 in April to leave the total at 2,788,370, figures that had not been registered since 2008, according to details from the Ministry of Labor.

By province, unemployment fell by 2,880 people (-2.06%) in the province of Alicante to stand at 137,109 people; it fell by 347 people (-0.96%) in Castellón to 35,933 people; and it fell by 1,627 people (-0.99%) in Valencia to 162,402 people.

Compared to a year ago, the provincial drop in unemployment exceeds 6% in Alicante and Valencia with 9,556 fewer unemployed (-6.52%) and 11,387 fewer (-6.55%) respectively, while in Castellón it has been less than stand at 840 fewer unemployed, -2.28%.

Of the 335,444 unemployed in the Community, 204,761 are women and 130,683 men, and 20,932 are under 25 years of age (10,950 men and 9,982 women).

In the Valencian Community as a whole, the greatest decrease in unemployment was registered in the services sector, with 3,963 fewer unemployed. Next came industry, with 502 less unemployed; construction, with 225 fewer unemployed; agriculture, with 96 fewer unemployed, and the group without previous employment, with 68 fewer unemployed.

With these drops in unemployment, the service sector registers 235,172 unemployed, followed by industry with 41,065, construction with 25,452, the previously unemployed group with 23,677 and agriculture with 10,078.
