Dustin Lance, screenwriter among other Milk productions, has wanted to be honest with the industry and with his followers and has revealed the reason why he has been away from the public sphere this last month.

The artist has told in an Instagram post that he suffers from a serious head injury" and acknowledges that "the way back will be long. It's a challenging and scary time for a creative guy who relies on what's inside his skull to work with."

Lance has not specified what type of injury he is suffering from or what could have caused it, but he stated that it occurred within the past month. "Showing little improvement, my doctors have ordered me to take the brain offline in the hope that it will heal."

The last time the Oscar-winning screenwriter was seen in public was in July, when she attended the Wimbledon tennis tournament with her husband, Olympic springboard diver Tom Daly.

For now, in order to obey medical orders, Lance remains with his partner in the Greek islands trying to disconnect to improve from his injury. "I finally feel safe sharing a few things again. Thank you for all your love and patience. You will have more news soon. I promise," he concluded.
