They force a man to travel 800km for a Social Security procedure: "I will lose my retirement"

Bureaucracy can be exasperating and the latest case of El món's content to RAC1 is a good example. Ramon has been trying to do a simple procedure with Social Security for 10 months, but there is no way: either he goes to León or nothing. Neither electronically nor by telephone. He explained it in a conversation with Jordi Basté.

Ramon had a special agreement with Social Security. In February 2023 he had to modify it because the compensation he received every month since he was fired exceeded the legal maximum and, from here, he had to start contributing. The nightmare also began.

He completed the first procedures and, a few weeks later, formally requested the modification. Since then, it has been completely impossible to complete the process.

"I wrote an email and did not receive a response. Months later I decided to go in person to the headquarters of the Social Security Treasury and they told me that either I would continue trying my luck and wait or I would have to go to León," Ramon detailed.

The Barcelona official with whom he spoke explained that, since 2022, the state had centralized the management of special Social Security agreements in León: "And, of course, now they are overwhelmed."

As Ramon explained, his problem would be "resolved in two mornings", but now he has collided with bureaucracy. "If you don't call at 9 o'clock in the morning, it is impossible to talk to them because their lines are busy. They pick up from Madrid or Oviedo and, with a little luck, they refer you to León... but that doesn't work either. guarantees you nothing!", he denounced.

Ramon, who feels "defenseless" and has even filed an appeal, explained in El mundo to RAC1 that, if he has not resolved it before the end of this year, he will lose his retirement amount and will have to demand a refund. almost 5,000 euros because he has doubled payments with Social Security.
