Castilian football continues to mourn after hearing the news of the death of Sebas, a 15-year-old boy belonging to one of the CD Zaratán Sport cadet teams, who died last Wednesday after fainting during training and being transferred to the health center of the town, where they certified his death from "natural causes."
Despite the sudden death, in statements to El Norte de Castilla, Sebas' mother assures that her son "died doing what he liked most, playing soccer." And she remembers him as a child who had many dreams, which "he would end up fulfilling." "I'm sure," she says.
As the vice president of the Federation of Castilla y León and Delegate in Valladolid explains to EFE, the minor felt unwell during the training session, in which he had already done some exercises without problem and there was also "no previous pathology."
It was the president of the Zaratán Sports Club (Valladolid), Ángel Pérez, who took him to the town's health center, where they confirmed that he had gone into cardiorespiratory arrest.
After the tragic loss, the minor's family has asked for greater resources to increase medical care for athletes in training. In statements to this medium, Sebas's mother maintains that "you have to invest a little more than five euros in the children's medical examinations."
The town council of the town, located five kilometers from Valladolid, has decreed three days of mourning and both the Castilla y León Football Federation and Real Valladolid have expressed their condolences on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
"There are no words to express the pain of Valladolid, Castilian and Leonese football for the death of the cadet footballer, Sebas. From the Federation and its delegation in Valladolid we regret the death of this footballer and share the grief and deep sadness with his team, his teammates and with all his family and friends," says the federation's statement.
The club where the minor played has also shown its condolences for the loss: "There are no words to describe how hard this can be... We are devastated and devastated."
