The circulation of AVE trains between Madrid and the Valencian Community is interrupted due to an incident

High-speed circulation between Madrid and the Valencian Community was interrupted this Friday shortly before noon due to an incident that occurred on an Alicante-Madrid Chamartín train near Monteagudo de las Salinas (Cuenca).

As reported by the Railway Infrastructure Administrator (ADIF), at 11:56 a.m. the long-distance Renfe AVE train Alicante Término-Madrid Chamartín was stopped without tension on track 1 of Monteagudo due to a snag of the pantograph with the catenary, which which has caused there to be no traffic on both roads between that point and the Albacete fork.

This has forced all high-speed circulation between Madrid and the Valencian Community to be interrupted from midday, without any information being given on the number of trains from the different operators that have been affected or the number of passengers that will be delayed. All the units that were on the route have gone to the nearest station and the rest have not left until now.

The pantograph is the element that is located on the roof of the convoy and that, in contact with the catenary, takes the electricity necessary for the movement of the train and to power all the services inside.

Prior to this incident, other incidents had occurred on the same LAV line, the first of them at 8:20 a.m. in Monteagudo because a Renfe Alicante-Ourense train backtracked to the Albacete junction to take the other track.

The railway incident has forced the stoppage of four trains with a total of 477 passengers. As reported by sources from the 112 Emergency Service to Europa Press, this incident occurred in a catenary at kilometer 225 of the railway line at 11:15 a.m.

For their part, Adif has reported that company technicians are already working on repairing the incident to restore circulation as soon as possible.

In addition, an information device has been deployed at the Chamartín station to inform travelers of the situation on the Madrid-Levante high-speed line.

At 8:47 a.m. there was a problem of lack of tension in the catenary on track 1 between Monteagudo and Albacete. An Ouigo Valencia-Madrid train has been stopped in Monteagudo waiting for another train from Madrid to transfer passengers.
