Dani Alves' defense fails to raise the million euro bail and will remain in prison

The defense team of Dani Alves, sentenced to four and a half years in prison for raping a young man in December 2022, has not managed to raise the million euros that the Barcelona Court demands of him for his release on provisional freedom, while resolve the different appeals presented.

This has been confirmed to La Vanguardia by sources familiar with the Brazilian's defense who trust that they will be able to collect the figure in the next few hours and ensure that Alves is released provisionally this Friday.

Miraida Puentes and the team of tax lawyers, in addition to Inés Guardiola herself and members of Alves's family, have moved heaven and earth to gather a figure that, yesterday, Neymar's family was willing to lend. And the will persists, but the funds of the Brazilian forward's father would not be in accounts in Spain, nor in Europe, a fact that delays the verification that the lawyer from the administration of justice in section 21 of the Barcelona Court has to carry out. .

The guarantee that included the imminent payment of part of the debt has not served the player's defense to pay the aforementioned amount into the court account. The function of the administration lawyer today was only limited to recording whether or not the money was in the account and, at two in the afternoon, the deposit had not yet been made effective.

The deadline to raise the money ended this Thursday at two noon.

During the morning, Alves tried to carry out the “normal” activity of each day. He already has things prepared, and has spent a long time meeting with two volunteers from a Catholic religious order who have visited him frequently in these 14 months. With absolute discretion, the two volunteers, consulted by La Vanguardia, explained that during these months, Alves had seemed very calm and confident in his defense, and that he was already living these hours with “the logical unrest of the moment.” Inés Guardiola has remained in practically permanent contact with her client throughout the morning.
