Cooperation as a tool to give opportunities to women and girls in places with inequality

Throughout history, many changes have been necessary to achieve more or less equal equality between men and women. Although there is still much to do, it is true that intense work has been done so that gender is neither an obstacle to prospering nor a reward to achieve certain goals.

After all this work to achieve similarity, different actors have intervened who, from their position, have promoted policies to promote greater equal justice in society around the world. But it is not precisely outside the borders of the West where there is not much awareness to achieve this objective. So much so that the role of aid workers, and non-governmental organizations that work in certain areas of the world, is hindered by anachronistic perspectives that still persist in many countries.

And it is specifically in these places where the design of development cooperation projects has included a specific assessment of the situations of the most vulnerable groups in poverty, such as women and girls. These are initiatives that over time will end up becoming the seed for the inclusion and empowerment of women in their community.

With the aim of finding out the situation of women and girls around the world in terms of gender equality, La Vanguardia and ACCIONA are organizing an event with experts on the subject on November 8. With them, we will try to discover the reality that many countries experience regarding parity.

What changes are necessary to ensure that cooperation reduces gender inequalities? Or, what needs to be done so that women in rural communities gain social weight and so that girls have the same opportunities as boys? These are some of the questions that will arise in the information session that will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Espacio 23, located on Oraa Street, 23 in Madrid.

Those interested in following the event framed within the Encuentros en La Vanguardia cycle can also do so from their homes through the La Vanguardia website, live via streaming.
