What is cross feeding and what benefits does it have for your pet?

Quality food for pets is a priority for their caregivers, aware of the importance it has for their health. Therefore, it is not surprising that new types of nutrition for companion animals that seek to provide them with maximum benefits are increasingly in vogue.

Competitors such as the homemade natural diet, the BARF diet or cross feeding have emerged from the traditional I think. The latter is the one that concerns us here, since it is an upward trend that stands out for the many advantages it brings to dogs and cats.

Cross feeding, also called mix feeding or mixed feeding, is a type of feeding for dogs and cats that consists of a combination of dry food (I think) and wet food (cans or sachets with a pâté texture). Both formats have their advantages and disadvantages compared to the other, so that combining them results in a synergy of benefits for dogs and kittens.

Mixed feeding is suitable for all dogs or cats, of course you always have to consult your vet for each particular case. To carry it out, the recommended proportion is that two thirds of the ration (80%) corresponds to dry feed, while one third or 20% of the ration is for wet food. Within this premise, the amounts and doses must be adapted to the breed, age, lifestyle of the animal and its possible pathologies.
