Top chef Michael Chiarello dies at 61

The cooking world is in mourning. The famous American chef Michael Chiarello has died at the age of 61 after suffering an acute allergy or anaphylactic shock, also known as anaphylaxis, an extremely serious allergic reaction that affects the entire body.

Chiarello received treatment for several days at the Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa to treat these complications, which he ultimately could not overcome. He died on October 6, according to his surroundings in a statement.

“We deeply mourn the loss of our beloved patriarch Michael. His culinary brilliance, his limitless creativity, and his unwavering commitment to his family were at the core of his being. "He brought people together through the joy of shared meals, fostering lasting memories around the table," the family maintains in its letter.

Despite the loss of the presenter and chef, those close to him assure that his legacy will last forever: "While we mourn Michael's passing, we also celebrate his legacy that continues with his restaurants."

The American chef became known thanks to his first restaurant in Napa (California), called Tra Vigne. After that first place, others came like Bottega, Ottimo or Coqueta, a tapas bar in San Francisco.

In addition, Chiarello participated in numerous television programs. For a decade, he hosted shows on PBS, Food Network, Fine Living and Cooking Channel. He was also part of Top Chef Masters, Top Chef and Top Chef Masters. The American audience also does not forget his role in Next Iron Chef.
