Seville will host a reduced version of the Hay Festival between October 5 and 7, which will be called Hay Fórum Sevilla and will be dedicated to the transformative role of culture in the urban environment, as announced last night by the management of Hay España.
The artistic curator Vicente Todolí and Prince Lorenzo de Medici will open the debates at the Real Alcázar of Seville, in which the British historian Antony Beevor, the Canadian politician Michael Ignatieff, the architect Martha Thorne and the Sevillian architects Cruz y Ortiz will also participate.
The main Hay Festival, which has been held in Segovia in mid-September for 18 years, closed its sessions with great success last Sunday.
“With this forum in Seville we are going to have a complement to the Segovia event, which will continue to be held as always,” the director of Hay España, Sheila Cremaschi, explained to this newspaper.
In fact, years ago two complementary editions were held in Granada like those now announced in Seville.
This meeting will have a nice aperitif: since the time of Alfonso Royal Alcazar. Jam is made with them in London. Well, part of this will be sent to Seville at the beginning of the Hay Forum, in an event that will be starred by the current ambassador, Hugh Elliot, and the mayor of the city, José Luis Sanz.
The Hay Fórum Sevilla has the support of the Junta de Andalucía, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the City Council.
“Andalusia has a very strong energy,” celebrates Cremaschi. The Hay Festival received the Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities in 2020.
