Soaring through the sky with A Contra Blues

“Never have so many owed so much to so few,” said Winston Churchill of the pilots who defended the British Isles from the Nazi invasion at the controls of Spitfire fighters like the one that appears on the cover (and gives name) to the new A Contra Blues album. , energized with waves of classic '50s rock, country, swing and rockabilly. Quite a declaration of intentions from this Barcelona group, which has been defending its style for 18 years against the mainstream waves that attack everywhere.

The new material comes after five long years of waiting since their previous work, Jab, which opened a new path for the quintet led by the marvelous voice of Jonathan Herrero along with Alberto Noel and Héctor Martín on guitar, Joan Vigo on bass and Víctor Lopez on drums. A formation that draws on the best of American music, with influences such as the Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers Band, Little Richard, Albert Lee and Ben Harper.

Winners of the European Blues Challenge in 2014, the group has 18 years of history and more than 800 performances, their strong point and the place for which the 10 songs they will present in the Luz de Gas room are designed.
