Begues has said goodbye to one of its most illustrious culinary representatives, the pastry chef Marcel Casanovas. The pastry chef has died of unknown causes, as reported by the Baix Llobregat town council.

There he was very loved both for his pastry businesses and for his involvement in community life, being one of the great figures of cuisine and sweets in the Catalan town.

“We regret to share the sad news of the transfer of our neighbor Marcel Casanovas. Begues loses a great pastry chef and a person always willing to participate in town activities and support local commerce. Our most sincere condolences to the family,” the council has published via X.

His best-known proposal was the Marcel de Begues pastry shop, which opened in 2010 and was one of the most beloved among the residents of the municipality, who came for its quality and detail.

Casanovas trained in the pastry chefs' guild of Terrassa and had worked in different places always in the world of pastry until a little over a decade ago he decided to open his own business with his wife Teresa Ventura.

Marcel Casanovas stood out for his artisanal creations that ranged from the most classic cakes to other more risky bets, chocolates and other products.
