'Navarra Dreams': the pintxo that will add a Spanish touch to the Oscar dinner

Can you imagine Eva Longoria succumbing to Navarrese gastronomy? This is the mission of those responsible for the Pamplona restaurant Baserriberri, who are going to present one of their most famous pintxos this Sunday during one of the dinners that are framed around the 2024 Oscar gala. The chefs Iñaki Andradas, Luken Vigo and Danel Ortubay are the creators of an appetizer that summarizes the most characteristic products and flavors of the region, which the nominees will be able to taste after the 96th ceremony of the great event of world cinema at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, specifically, during the Fiesta Ibero-American.

This pintxo with its own name, Navarra Dreams, is a clear nod to Robot Dreams, one of the nominees in the Best Animated Film category. It is a film written and directed by Pablo Berger from Bilbao and produced by the Navarrese company Lokiz Films, which is why a delegation from the Navarrese government and the regional audiovisual industry will travel to the Oscars. The Snow Society by Juan Antonio Bayona, which aspires to win two statuettes for best international film and best makeup, completes the Spanish representation.

Navarra Dreams is a pintxo divided into three parts. The first is a piquillo pepper hummus with Navarrese asparagus yolk. It also has a smoked Pyrenean trout with crème fraîche and Iberian ham. The cherry on top is a foie mousse with orange jam and fried almonds, which enhances the contrast between some of the most representative salty and sweet delicacies of the Autonomous Community.

"For us it is a pride to attend an event like the Oscars and represent Navarra on this special occasion," explains chef Iñaki Andradas in a statement from the Baserriberri restaurant and believes that, he adds, "it is a unique opportunity to show the world the richness and excellence of Navarrese gastronomy".

The American incursion comes to the Baserriberri Group at a time of expansion of its brand. Other businesses have recently joined the premises at 32 San Nicolás Street in Pamplona, founded by Luken Vigo and Iñaki Andradas under the philosophy of “providing a different gastronomic experience to the cuisine of Navarra”, such as the Hazia restaurant, which opened last month. June in the Vitoria food plaza, or Rojo y Negro, located next to La Concha beach in San Sebastián.
