Lorena Gómez: "I go back to life" is my most personal album, my essence"

The singer Lorenamez, winner of Operación Triunfo (OT) in the 2006 edition, returns to music with her third album, the first with songs exclusively hers, titled "Me vuelvo a la vida", a work that she defines as a project “very personal, where I tell my experiences and capture my essence.”

In an interview, the singer from Lleida, who had not published an album since 2008, explains that this musical project is like a phoenix: “It is a rebirth in every sense, I am a new Lorena, more mature, and singing compositions for the first time. mine".

After going on sale on October 27, the album reached the Top 6 in national sales of the vinyl format during the first week, above those of Laura Pausini and reissues of the bands Mötley Crüe and Nirvana.

“It is surprising, especially at a time when physical sales are increasingly difficult,” Lorena admits in this regard.

It has been more than a year since Lorena has been giving some hints of this new album in her performances and, in fact, the song that gives it its title came out in October 2022.

But the album's cover letter is "Ganas tú", a song produced by Pablo Cebrián that has been chosen to become the banner of the entire album because “its harmony and lyrics reach the deepest part of the soul,” the singer emphasizes. .

Lorena defines "I go back to life" as a set of twelve “stories of everyday life, in which everyone can identify, and also with a great mix of styles.”

For styles, that of Miguel Poveda, who collaborates with the interpretation of "If I could see you", the song dedicated to Lorena's mother, who died three years ago from cancer.

“But there will be more collaborations during the tour” that he has prepared, Lorena advances, without giving names, but ensuring that it will be an international figure.

Although it has already rained since she won the fifth edition of Operación Triunfo, Lorena Gómez (Lleida, 1986) cannot shake off the label of "OT singer", something that in any case "doesn't bother me," she confesses, because "it's "It's better for them to label me that way than to tell me that I'm hooked."

In this sense, she considers herself as a worker in the musical field who "has worked all her life and the effort has been rewarded."

Open to collaborating “at any time” with the next edition of OT, which premieres on November 20, she admits that the influence of the program is long-lasting and does not wane.

“It is in sight with its reissue and this time through an international platform,” he says in relation to the broadcast on Amazon Prime Video of the 12th edition of this 'talent show'.

Despite this, Lorena completely separates the results of any musical and commercial career from those of the television contest.

He warns that winning Operación Triunfo is not a direct ticket to success: “It has nothing to do with it, there are those who have abandoned music after winning OT and others who are filling entire stadiums without having done so,” he summarizes.

In any case, she maintains good relations with her former classmates and professors at the academy. “It's pure affection, from knowing each other for so many years,” she highlights.

The singer assures that she is now dedicated "one hundred percent to music", after a time flirting with television programs - "Your face sounds familiar to me" - and acting as an actress in series and soap operas.

In any case, “if they offer me a role in a series or a movie, I would have no problem accepting it,” he confesses.

The first trips to promote the new album have led her to sign albums in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia, but she has deliberately wanted to convene her last direct contact with her fans in Lleida, her hometown.

“I have accumulated a crazy desire for this moment,” he admitted before greeting his fans at the Teatre de l’Escorxador in Lleida, where yesterday he performed some of the songs most requested by his followers on Instagram.

The tour to present their new album started in Seville on November 4 and will continue through Barcelona (November 18), Madrid (November 23) and Torrejón (November 25).

Next year he has concerts scheduled in Lleida (February 10), Zaragoza (February 16) and Valencia (February 29), although more dates will probably be added, his representatives warn.
