A 67-year-old woman died after being viciously attacked by a pit bull dog that she had picked up days before from the street and brought to live in her home.
The tragedy that led to serious consequences due to dog bites occurred in the municipality of Macastre, at the La Fe Hospital in Valencia, Spain.
The victim, whose name was not revealed, had picked up the animal and had it with her in her home, according to hospital sources.
Sources from the Civil Guard confirmed the death of the woman to the EFE agency, as indicated by the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU).
According to what was explained in the report, the woman suffered "catastrophic injuries to her arms and head" as a result of the attack by the dog, considered a dangerous breed.
The events occurred around 2 p.m. last Friday and a SAMU unit went to the scene and, after assisting the woman, transferred her to the La Fe Hospital in Valencia, where she finally died.
The Civil Guard patrol that attended the call had to kill the animal so that the emergency services could help the bloody victim, for which they used their service weapon.
The woman died when she went into "shock" after suffering hemorrhage as a result of the bites of the dangerous animal, which was abandoned and did not have any identifying microchip, reports Las Provincias.
