Grandpa's trick with a toothpick and tape that will make it easier to cut vegetables

Cutting all types of vegetables is one of the essential steps for many everyday cooking recipes. And although, with more or less success, everyone applies their own technique, we have discovered an infallible trick so that you can cut vegetables much easier and faster. Specifically, this is a solution that will help you prevent the already cut slices from getting stuck to the knife blade and preventing you from continuing the task.

As TikTok user @jaimecaro566 explains, his grandfather taught him a tip for which you only need two objects that we all have at home: a piece of tape and a toothpick. He simply cuts a piece of tape large enough to completely cover the toothpick. Next, he places the toothpick parallel to the blade of the knife you are using and sticks it with the tape. Make sure you secure it well so it doesn't come loose!

Et voila! With this trick, the slice of zucchini or whatever vegetable you are cutting will slide towards the board. Thanks to the toothpick, you will prevent the slice you just cut from sticking to the blade of the knife and, therefore, cut the vegetable in one go and without interruptions.

It is clear that, according to their dimensions, not all vegetables are cut in the same way. When treating, for example, a pumpkin, forget about the zeal and the toothpick and follow the advice of the tiktoker @cocinandoconsolu. One of the characteristics of pumpkin is that its flesh is much harder, which makes it difficult to slice it.

To overcome this handicap, we recommend placing the pumpkin on a board and marking the cut with the knife. Then, leave it still and, with your other hand, roll the pumpkin back and forth to help the blade sink until the slice is removed.

In the case of cabbage, once it has been removed, you can apply the trick of the TikTok cook @carollstermomandchef. Their tactic is to cut the cabbage in half three times until they have eight eighths. Then, remove the trunk or heart (the hard part) and cut it to taste with a sharp knife from the inside to the inside. This way you can leave it well chopped and ready to cook!
