Food alert for a nougat ice cream that contains hazelnuts and undeclared wheat flour

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) has launched an alert regarding a Jijona nougat ice cream that presents traces of hazelnuts and wheat flour without declaring it on the label. Therefore, it is recommended that those allergic to hazelnuts and/or people with problems derived from gluten ingestion not consume it.

The product in question is the Gelatelli brand Jijona Nougat Ice Cream presented in a 500 ml tub, with barcode 4056489408338, batch number 31853 and expiration date 01/07/2025.

The agency dependent on the Ministry of Consumer Affairs was made aware of this information through an alert notification sent by the health authorities of Catalonia, but the distributor was the first to issue a statement regarding the withdrawal of the affected product.

The manufacturer “A.I.A.D.H.E.S.A” has apologized to all affected customers for the inconvenience caused.

According to the information available, the affected product has been distributed in Lidl stores in Aragon, the Balearic Islands, Catalonia and the Valencian Community.

This information has been transferred through the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI), in order to verify the withdrawal of the affected products from marketing channels.

As a precautionary measure, Aesan recommends that people allergic to hazelnuts and/or people with problems derived from gluten ingestion who may have the aforementioned product in their homes, refrain from consuming it.

However, the consumption of this ice cream does not pose any risk to the rest of the population.
