Dexter, the dog who walks on two legs and "takes his owner for a walk": "He's faster"

When it comes to taking the dog for a walk, each owner encounters a unique and personal situation. Some dogs pull on the leash strongly and want to explore the world; others, however, resist moving forward. There are dogs that stop every two steps to sniff and mark, while others eagerly look for others of their species to greet. There are dogs that prefer parks and nature areas and there are also the most urbane ones.

And then there are dogs that walk on two legs, standing as if they were a human. This is the case of Dexter, an 8-year-old Breton spaniel who is causing a sensation on social networks for his curious way of walking and the exciting story that gave rise to it.

Under the alias @dexterdogouray on Instagram, Dexter has 198 thousand followers and on social networks there are many viral videos of users who have found him on the street walking on his two hind legs and, often, faster than even the person who found him. walk

Dexter's family adopted him when he was a puppy and had four legs. His owner, Kentee Pasek, says they chose this breed because they wanted a mountain dog that enjoyed running and interacted well with the family.

When he was still a puppy, Dexter ran away from home and suffered an accident; he was run over by a moving truck, trapping both of his front paws. Dexter was then admitted to a veterinary clinic and underwent surgeries. He lost one of his front legs and had barely any strength in the other. Afterwards, he returned home and began his rehabilitation period with a special wheelchair for dogs.

Its owner remembers a day when they were in the garden doing her rehabilitation and she came home for a moment to pour herself a coffee and drink it on the porch in the company of her dog. It was then that she, upon leaving it, found Dexter standing on his two hind legs on the porch. “How could he have climbed the stairs?” asked Pasek, who points out that at that time he even wore an Elizabethan necklace.

He took the dog back down into the yard and watched as it stood up and climbed the porch steps again on its two hind legs. Since then, Dexter has walked this way for almost his entire life. He frequently goes to veterinary check-ups to check that his hind legs and spine are in good condition. His story, as his owner points out, is an inspiration about self-improvement and perseverance.
