Desperately looking for Leo in Mataró

Javi Peral has been welcoming an African parrot into his home for 25 years, a protected species that the European Union only allows to breed in captivity. After the success with this pet, Peral and his family decided to buy a second copy.

After a trip to Asturias, he bought it from one of the only two Spanish breeders that he likes because of the way it is raised, since Peral is a great lover of this kind of bird. On Friday, August 18, little Leo came into his life, but unfortunately he escaped this Monday.

The family desperately searches for the little calf through the streets of Mataró, since due to its young age (two months and ten days) it cannot feed itself, and it could only survive a couple of days without its owners.

His owner confesses: "Now is when he began to eat some fodder and fruit, but he still ate mostly porridge, something that makes it very difficult for him to survive on the street, especially considering how hot these days are."

According to Peral, Leo escaped through the balcony that was open, going past the Salesianos school [at number 80 of Av. Puig i Cadafalch in Mataró]. The area that includes this school, the Can Boada area and the Parc Central are key to finding the little one.

"If a neighbor finds it, please call me," says Peral, who has not hesitated to share his phone number to facilitate any possible direct contact: 617458738. "This parrot has an important emotional component. You become very attached to them and, after waiting all these months, the truth is that it is hard to have lost him for the moment", says Peral, who is still struggling to find little Leo.
