The case of a farmer who moved to the city and tried to raise cows on the balcony of his apartment, located on the fifth floor, has gone viral on Chinese social networks, where videos showing the peculiar scene accumulate millions of views.

The images, released through the Douyin video platform (the Chinese version of TikTok), show seven calves between 10 and 20 kilos each located on the terrace of the house, located in a building in Sichuan province.

The cattle owner's plans did not come to fruition, however, since he only managed to keep the animals in that place for one day, the Hong Kong newspaper South China Morning Post reported Thursday.

The calves were evicted on July 14 after the residents of the building complained to the administrators about the smell and the lowing they emitted.

But the urban farmer has not yet thrown in the towel, because according to Fengmian News, the man has been fighting with the aforementioned administrators since the bovine eviction and has tried to put the cows back in his house.

The story has caught the attention of Chinese netizens, who have generally reacted with humor and even understanding for the difficulty people arriving from rural areas have in adapting to city life and changing their habits.

"I am sure that your cattle never thought that one day they would live in a building," joked one user, while another ironized that "at least the situation shows that the construction of the building is of good quality."
