A husky saves his neighborhood from tragedy by detecting a gas leak

Kobe has become an unexpected hero. This four-year-old husky was able to detect and alert his owner to a gas leak in the front yard of his house, a home that is part of a block of flats. His intervention was vital, because the explosion would have affected all the neighbors, according to the British news agency SWNS.

Suddenly, the dog started digging in the yard, for no apparent reason. His attitude alerted his owner, Chanell Bell, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. "We had been in this new home for a while and he never digs holes without me, so I knew something was up," she explains to this agency.

The young woman suspected that the problem could be in the gas installation, which had already given her problems as soon as she moved into the block. “When I saw the hole and realized it was strange behavior for my dog. My intuition told me to check it,” she says.

The dog's owner took out her gas detection device and was right. Her device indicated very high levels and Bell immediately informed the authorities of the leak, which occurred on December 21.

"They told us that it could have caused serious health effects, such as breathing problems, brain damage and even death," he explains to this news agency. The risk of explosion was also very high: "They told me that something as simple as turning on a light switch could also have caused an explosion!"

The engineers who came are still surprised by the dog's heroic intervention. "What Kobe did was incredible. He saved us from a disaster," celebrates his owner.
