Who is Guido Palau, the stylist who collaborates with Zara on its new line of hair products

When it came to exploring a new level of market, hair care products, Zara did not want to make a mistake and opted for guaranteed success, relying on the most sought-after hairdresser in the fashion industry: Guido Palau.

In November, the Inditex brand launched Zara Hair, with the Glitter in gold collection, in collaboration with Guido Palau, the models' favorite hairdresser. In February, Zara and Palau teamed up again to present the Everyday basics hair line, made up of six basic hair care products. But who is really the creator of Zara's hair range?

Guido Palau was born in England in 1962. Raised in the countryside, in south London, he began his career in the world of hair in the 1980s, working at Vidal Sassoon, a hairdressing products company founded by the hairdresser and businessman namesake.

The big boost to Palau's career as a hair stylist came in the 90s, when she collaborated on the video clip for the song Freedom! by George Michael, starring Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawdford, Naomi Campbell, Christy Tyrlington and Tatjana Patitz. Likewise, it was his work for a photo shoot published in The Face magazine that made Calvin Klein sign him for its fall 1994 show, where he was the architect of the hairstyles of models like Kate Moss.

Since that moment, she has earned more than deserved fame by causing an impact with her striking hairstyles, which never leave anyone indifferent. He is especially characterized by extravagant compositions, both in shapes, dimensions and colors. Of course, he also masters more subtle and sophisticated hair styles.

He has worked hand in hand with designers of the stature of the late Alexander McQueen, Miuccia Prada and Helmut Lang, and it is common for his talent to be responsible behind the scenes for fashion shows by brands such as Prada, MiuMiu, Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Saint Laurent and Valentino, among others. In addition, her name is in great demand to take charge of the hair of actresses, singers and models in photo shoots for fashion magazines.

Regarding her new collaboration with Zara for her hair line, Palau highlights that “I come from the world of fashion and style is very important to me. (…) We wanted to start Zara's foray into the world of hair care by presenting six products with which most styles can be created. It doesn't matter if you want to achieve volume, hold, curl, texture or shine: these products are the basic pillars of any stylist.

Zara Hair's Everyday Basics line consists of a blow-drying spray, a dry texturizer, a hairspray, a volumizing mousse, a curl activator and a hair balm.
