Tow messes up with AI: "We apologize"

The use of artificial intelligence on the most artistic level continues to give something to talk about. There are already millions of people who have denounced and cried foul because of illustrations, texts or even videos created with an AI, without considering the methods and materials previously used to train it. The issue of copyright in these cases is in the spotlight, and Estopa has found itself right in the middle of the crusade.

“For AI decepticons. Do you know that twenty-meter gorilla called King Kong? Well, I'm sorry to tell you that it doesn't exist... it's a 3D construct made by a person with Photoshop tools (AI, of course). "Un exited", was the message that the duo from Cornellà de Llobregat published yesterday on their X (Twitter) profile, and which has already been deleted. A writing that generated a lot of controversy but that, in the long run, had an objective in this Friday's day.

And the rumba group has officially presented its new album, titled EstopÍA and whose cover emulates one of the multiple images generated by artificial intelligence that circulate on the networks. Created by maestro Jandi, it would have taken about four months of work according to the Muñoz brothers. Despite this, the cover of his latest single, La Ranchera, would be generated through an AI, without subsequent work.

“Regarding our unfortunate King Kong post yesterday, we apologize. We scratch ourselves too much. We were just defending our beloved author of all the covers (except the first), Jandi. I guess we explained ourselves poorly when talking about AI. It seemed like we had done it by pressing a button... and of course, NO. He gave us that cover and like him we always loved it,” they explained on Elon Musk's platform.

"And above all. Which we didn't have the slightest idea, due to our ignorance on this subject. It's just that there was this feeling and regret among the illustrators. We will learn for next time. Every new technology carries great responsibility,” stated the Muñoz brothers. However, not everyone was satisfied with this explanation and criticized that both covers were not created by a human being.

“You are honored to rectify, but it would be good, since you are aware of the damage that the normalization of AIs can generate for illustrators who do not have their work insured like he does with you, to now remove from your networks the cover that normalizes its use and you will not to use”, expressed one user. “It's amazing how they are kidding us for the second time now and everyone is like that,” criticized another user in the comments.
