This is Princess Leonor's 40 euro coin for her 18th birthday

This Tuesday, October 31, the Princess of Asturias will enjoy a very special day: she will swear in the Constitution in the Cortes Generales and celebrate her coming of age. On the occasion of her 18th birthday, the National Mint and Stamp Factory-Real Casa de la Moneda has created a very particular piece.

The public entity will put into circulation a 40-euro collector's coin in honor of Princess Leonor, who will turn 18 this October 31. Likewise, the currency will be available to the public during the fourth quarter of the year.

As indicated in the order of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation that was already published by the Official State Gazette (BOE), a maximum of one million coins will be manufactured.

The piece will be distributed by the Bank of Spain, credit institutions, the National Mint and Stamp Factory itself-Real Casa de la Moneda and designated public and private entities, upon request from individuals.

The coin in honor of Princess Leonor's coming of age will be made of 925 thousandths silver and the rest of copper, it will have a weight of 18 grams and a diameter of 33 millimeters. On the obverse of it will appear the effigy of Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias.

As for the back, the legend 'FELIPE VI KING OF SPAIN' and the year of minting, 2023, will appear, separated by a hyphen, while at the bottom of the coin it will read 'PRINCESS LEONOR'. Both texts will be separated by an interpretation of the Victory Cross, while a pearl pattern surrounds the motifs and legends.

The reverse of the coin will display the Coat of Arms of Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias. To its right, in two lines and in capital letters, the face value, 40 euros, and within a circle, in the form of a quadruple latent image, will appear a schematized Victory Cross, the Mint mark, a royal crown and the number 2. 3.

Finally, at the bottom the Mint mark will appear and surrounding the central area, in a descending circular direction and in capital letters, the legend '18 ANNIVERSARY S.A.R. THE PRINCESS OF ASTURIAS', also surrounded with a pearl motif.
