Journalist Tino Torrubiano finally answered the mystery in Así es la vida, accusing a direct member of the family of making a lot of money by selling information about the Riveras to the press.
“He made a lot of money with me for the time,” the journalist said on set, accusing the alleged “mole,” whom he identified as Julián Contreras, Sr. According to the photographer, Carmen Ordoñez's ex-husband had been responsible for the leak of certain sensitive information of importance to the family, such as Eugenia Martínez de Irujo's pregnancy or Belén Ordóñez's illness.
Torrubiano, very sure of his words, stated that the aforementioned could not deny it, since he has proof of what he was saying. “He knows that I have evidence, because I have it,” he added, going on to detail reports that he himself had made of Contreras with his partner.
“The one who leaked that information to me was him, Belén's illness, encounters that he had with his partner and Carmina had with her partner, the four of them together... It was him, a series of reports that at that time, due to the current events that there were, they were important,” Torrubiano revealed.
For all these leaks, which, as the photographer pointed out, were succulent for the mainstream press of the time, he could have earned up to “a million pesetas.”
At this moment, Julián Contreras is in a delicate situation, as he has been suffering from an illness that affects his vision for years. His son, Julián Contreras Jr., is the one who has been taking care of him since then, something that his brother, Francisco Rivera, already described as “unnatural” in his last interview on ¡De Friday!.
“It is a degenerative disease and it is getting worse every day. It becomes difficult and it is hard, but at least we are getting through it,” explained Julián Contreras Jr. in an interview with Pronto in 2022. “Our life is one. We have become a father and son marriage and we are living a shared life, which for me is lucky. I am my father's father, but I was already my mother's father. “That's my way of being.”
