It has just come to light that the concert that the band Hollywood Vampires, made up of Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper, had in Budapest on July 18 had to be canceled due to a series of "unexpected circumstances", as they expressed in a brief statement a few minutes before the show began.
After several days of talking about all sorts of reasons why the event was cancelled, the Hungarian newspaper Blikk has reported that the show could not take place because the actor from Who Does Gilbert Grape Love?, Pirates of the Caribbean and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory had been found unconscious in his hotel room.
''Everything was set, the stage was set. It didn't even occur to us that there might be a problem, especially since the band members had also done a scheduled sound adjustment in the afternoon. Nobody even thought about the fact that Johnny Depp would not participate, a colleague also installed his microphone," a source close to the band explained to the Hungarian outlet.
Many of the fans of the American band had traveled from other countries to the capital of Hungary to attend the concert, so they were very upset with its cancellation.
Many of these fans who traveled to Budapest were already inside the Papp László Budapest Sport Arena when they received the news of the cancellation of the performance. While some took it as a joke, others believed that such a sudden cancellation could only be due to a complication in the health of one of the band members. The seconds thought that the ankle fracture that Depp suffered a few weeks ago could be the reason why everything had gone to waste, but nothing was confirmed.
According to the Hungarian media, the real reason why the event did not take place was much worse and a medical team had to go urgently to the Corinthia Hotel (where Hollywood artists stayed) to attend to the actor.
In the trial against his ex, Amber Heard, Depp admitted to spending many years self-medicating and taking all kinds of substances: "I have taken these substances to numb myself to ghosts, the demons that have been with me since my youth. Basically I was self-medicating."
Both this testimony and some images from the afternoon before the concert in which the actor can be seen drinking have caused many users to give their opinion and blame Depp and his excesses for having to cancel the show. Although these are serious accusations, neither the artist nor any member of his team have spoken for the moment, so all eyes are on the performance of the group Hollywood Vampires tonight in Poland.
