Daniel Sancho is serving 18 days in the Thai prison on Koh Samui, accused of murdering the Colombian Edwin Arrieta. During this time, the investigation of his case has continued and there is already talk of the upcoming trial of the Spanish cook, which could take place in a few months.
Although the police of the Asian country have already requested the maximum sentence for him, the son of actor Rodolfo Sancho is still waiting for everything that happened to be clarified. Some deadlines that will be delayed in time, at least, until the end of this year 2023. The Así es la vida program has detailed what the processes to which Daniel Sancho and his case will be subjected from now on will be.
The Telecinco space recalls that "the prosecution has not yet received the police report on the case of Daniel Sancho, despite the fact that the main person in charge of the investigation, Big Joke, assures that they have done so." The number two of the Thai police recalled in Code 10 that "this Friday" is the deadline to send all the evidence they have, "but if there is any evidence outside of that date, it will also be considered."
Since Sancho's entry into prison on August 7, the Thai police set a time limit for sending that report to the prosecutor's office: 84 days. "Then it would take between 3 and 6 months to hold the trial, that is, it could be held at the end of October," they recall in Así es la vida, with an important nuance: "In case they cannot work within those 84 days, the Thai authorities will have to release Daniel Sancho".
These deadlines clash with Big Joke's statements to Código 10, in which he assured that the investigation had been completed in its entirety. "The case is closed after asking the Colombian embassy for DNA samples from Edwin's family, specifically from the sister," said the director of the Thai police.
However, Big Joke himself later clarifies that "an autopsy is missing that needs some details along with Sancho's confession." Everything will depend on whether the DNA tests requested from Arrieta's family match the remains that have been found of the surgeon, whose full body has not yet been found.
