The Marató wants to shed light on sexual and reproductive health next Sunday

“This year's motto is 'La Marató que dona lum' and has a very clear objective: to make visible and normalize sexual and reproductive health problems, very often silenced and limited to the intimate sphere of people due to ignorance, the taboo and stigma that surrounds them.” This was the message launched this morning by the president of 3Cat, Rosa Romà, at the presentation of the 32nd edition of this solidarity gala that will be held next Sunday, December 17.

Three million people in Catalonia suffer from some of these pathologies throughout their lives. Painful menstruation, urine leakage, a sexually transmitted infection, menopause, difficulties in having sexual relations or getting pregnant are examples of problems included within this area. Many people live together without sharing it or often consulting it with the doctor because of taboos, stigmas and lack of information that make it difficult to make it visible and normalize it.

This Marató is presented with “a more feminine look and a younger vocation than ever”, Romà continued. In this sense, La Marató wants to be “a recognition to all the women who have seen how the effects derived from sexual and reproductive health were silenced” and a cry of warning to young people, “who are also recipients of some of these infections.” , especially in the field of sexually transmitted diseases.” For this reason and for the first time, there will be an Espai Jove located at the Barcelona Forum, where content will be offered especially aimed at young people between 14 and 25 years old.

As usual, La Marató will start at eight in the morning on El Suplement de Catalunya Ràdio with Roger Escapa to connect with TV3 from 9.30am. In the morning there will be activities in three venues: in the gardens of the Maternity Hospital of Barcelona, with Elisenda Carod and Marina Romero; in the lighthouse of Sant Cristòfol de Vilanova i la Geltrú, with Sara Loscos; and at the University of Lleida, with Núria Solé and Marta Carreras. And in the afternoon and until past midnight, La Marató will move to the studios of Sant Joan Despí, with Xavi Coral and Helena Garcia Melero as hosts.

As new this year, Sigfrid Gras, director of TV3, highlighted “the reformulation of the La Marató match in the Kings League format” in addition to the already mentioned Espai Jove. At this point, Cristina Villà, director of Innovation, Research and Digital Strategy at 3Cat, announced that there will be a broadcast on Twitch with Carla Rubio at the helm.

The Marató de 3Cat, which will have the collaboration of the Local Audiovisual Network, will feature live music from Mercabarna as well as the soundtrack of the Marató Disc, which can be purchased from La Vanguardia.
