The Koh Samui court is experiencing very busy days due to the Daniel Sancho case. Rodolfo Sancho's son is accused of the murder and dismemberment of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta in Thailand. Some events that occurred last August and that have been tried since April 9.
An event that is generating great expectation in Spain, so it is not surprising that dozens of media outlets have traveled to the scene to capture first-hand images and statements. And this is what the judge in this case is not liking at all, as with each passing day he is getting tougher against leaks.
"For the second day in a row here in Koh Samui we, the displaced media, are suffering from a considerable information blockade that outrages even the Thai media," a reporter from the Let's See program began to relate. "Today the judge has raised the tone much more, directly threatening with prison in case there is a leak. But, logically, our job is to obtain that information," he added.
With this, it has become clear that the magistrate does not mess around and is willing to take forceful measures. He doesn't want anything to come out of the trial to the press. Something he's not getting, so he's getting tougher.
"Here I make the judgment and balance. I don't want anything to come out because I'll put you in jail," said the judge on the first day, as Joaquín Prat revealed from the set. "He said this yesterday, and today you tell us that he has raised his tone even more. Tomorrow I don't even want to imagine," he continued, without believing what happened.
And one of the people who has been speaking the most to the press these days has been Juan Gonzalo Ospina, lawyer for the Arrieta family. However, the judge's "very serious" warnings are already beginning to be noticed, since this Wednesday he has not released a word. "They have told us that we should not make any type of parallel judgment and that we must be very respectful of the norms and culture of this country," he stated.
And he is not the only lawyer who has been clear in this regard. Beatriz Uriarte, a Spanish lawyer on behalf of Edwin Arrieta, did not want to speak either: "We cannot give information. They have asked us to be very respectful." Even so, all this contrasts with the camera that follows Rodolfo Sancho for the recording of his documentary. Something that they have put on the table in the Telecinco program.
On the one hand, the actor is filming the docuseries 'The Sancho Case'. and. for another. The judge hangs a sign being very blunt: "Only authorized people related to the cases can enter the room. People who wish to record images or sounds must wait outside."
