The hard story of Romina Belluscio, married to Guti, after contracting Lyme disease: "I was suffocating"

On November 19, Romina Belluscio left her followers completely shocked by revealing that she had been suffering from Lyme disease for three years. The wife of José María Gutiérrez "Guti" turned to her Instagram account to share how she was experiencing this "battle" against the disease, little known in our country.

The Argentine influencer was infected by the bite of a tick infected with the borrelia bacteria, causing a multisystem infection that attacked her very aggressively. The presenter confesses this week with the magazine ¡Hola!, where she reveals how she has been living all this time, after contracting the disease.

"The bacteria lodged in my brain, in my heart and in my stomach, leaving my immune system at zero and creating many co-infections," reveals the Argentine, who claims that there were days when she could not get out of bed because of the intense pains. "When I got it, it took me 30 minutes to stand up."

A disease barely known in Spain, but even worse for not knowing the cause of his pain at the beginning of his ordeal. After receiving his diagnosis, he began his treatments. Since then, he has made his mission to give visibility to the disease, raise awareness in society and serve as a speaker for other patients who lack resources and visibility as he is a well-known figure.

The Argentine assures that, after three years of fighting, she feels much better. Despite still having pain, the symptoms seem to have improved and she can now carry out her routines more normally. "She wasn't going to tell it," says the influencer, who explains that if she did it, it was only so she could help others. "For me it was a time of pain and darkness," she explains. The Argentine had just become a mother for the second time with Guti, and the specialists told her that it was due to postpartum symptoms.

However, it had nothing to do with it. "She knew she was sick," she explains. "All the doctors told me that I had nothing. The real crazy thing is the time it took to give me the diagnosis," he says, saying that he visited dozens of specialists until he found the one who gave him the correct diagnosis, almost two years later and already with serious liver damage due to the infection.

Three years later, with customized treatment, his life has changed forever. "At the beginning of the treatment she took 100 pills a day," she reveals, saying that she also tried another hyperthermia and blood cleansing treatment. "I couldn't even walk to the door. I was exhausted, I was suffocating," she says.

After revealing her battle with the disease, the Argentine has received the encouragement of dozens of people from all over the world on social networks. "It has been incredible," says Romina, who has felt very supported in this process.

Now, Romina Belluscio is committed to giving visibility to the disease, which is "invisible" in our country, in addition to not being subsidized by Social Security. "Prevention is very important," explains the influencer, who warns that taking precautions before walking outdoors is essential to avoid bites from ticks that transmit the infection.

"You have to want to move forward," says the Argentine, who is now an ambassador for the ALCE Foundation (Chronic Lyme Association of Spain). "It's a chronic disease, but being symptom-free would be a blessing."
