The exorbitant amounts that Mariah Carey earns every year with 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'

The Christmas season is already underway. As surreal as this statement may seem on November 3, once Halloween is over, there are only a few relevant festive events left before reaching the last days of the year. For the United States it is Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday, for Spain it is the Purísima bridge. However, they all share the same melody around the world: All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Mariah Carey's well-known song has become, through months and persistence, the unofficial Christmas anthem. The North American artist has embraced her status as godmother of the holidays for years, sharing this past Wednesday a fun publication in which she was defrosted, ready to entertain her followers once again. However, a question has always arisen around these dates: how much does the singer charge for the song?

These are figures that increase with each passing year, and since 1994 Carey has taken a percentage of each legal reproduction worldwide. Specifically, the Huntington, New York native earns 0.004 cents for every time she listens to the song on Spotify. At a global level, different media have disputed the numbers that she accumulates each Christmas, although these are always fixed at seven figures.

According to The Economist, in 2022 Carey earned an extra $2.5 million from listening to All I Want For Christmas Is You, while data from the economic portal Forbes rises to $3 million. The same medium is responsible for highlighting that, since the publication of the single, Mariah Carey would have earned a total of 60 million dollars, a capital figure considering that her net worth is valued at 340 million, according to the Celebrity Net Worth portal.

The song's virality over the last decade has also helped its success at its most essential, artistic level. In the last four consecutive years the song has reached number 1 on the Billboard charts, the renowned American music medium. All this added to a multitude of videos, images and jokes that turn the New Yorker into a true Christmas goddess. And this year it could be even more so.

As announced on her social networks at the beginning of October, Mariah Carey will do a Christmas concert tour of the United States and Canada. This will start on November 15 in the Californian city of Highland, passing through up to ten different states from her native geography. Highlights include a double date on December 17 and 19 in Los Angeles, her time in Toronto and Montreal on the 27th and 29th, and the grand closing at Madison Square Garden in New York on December 17.
