The balletcore bun: the trendy hairstyle for the festive season

The balletcore trend has been one of the protagonists of 2023. This aesthetic appeals to the influence of ballet in both fashion and beauty and promises to make a strong impact also in 2024. In fashion, it is evident in the form of tulle skirts with stockings of the same tone, pastel and powdery colors, as well as the use of bows and flat shoes to complement the look.

And when it comes to beauty, ballet also exerts a notable influence. In makeup, the protagonists are soft tones, such as nude and powder pink for eye shadows, blushes and lipsticks. Moving on to the hair, the greatest exponent of this trend is the balletcore bun.

If you are already looking for inspiration for your hairstyles for the festive season, you should know that the strong point of the balletcore bun is its versatility: it will be perfect for running errands, for a family dinner or for going out to a party. Do you want to know how to recreate it?

The balletcore bun is popularly known as the ballerina bun. That is, a perfectly rounded bun, quite tight, sophisticated and elegant. You can choose to do it at any height of the head, whether at the crown of the head, mid-height, or lower at the nape of the neck. This bun coexists with another ubiquitous beauty trend this season, the clean look, based on a very polished and neat updo.

To do this, it is advisable that your hair is not freshly washed, as this will make it more difficult to work with. Use a natural bristle comb instead of a silicone one to tame your hair even more. With patience, brush your hair back, leaving it as polished as you can with the help of the comb. You can accompany the strokes of the comb with your hands soaked in a fixing product such as gel or styling water. Once you have chosen the height at which you want your bun, gather it with a rubber band in a tight ponytail.

The next step is to twist the ponytail around itself in a spiral that you will then roll over the part where you tied it. At this point, you can collect the bun with another hair tie or with hairpins, whichever method you prefer, but making sure that it is well fixed.

Next, it's time to set all your hair well, especially the most rebellious strands or baby hairs (those shorter hairs because they just came out). To do this, use a toothbrush – which you only use for this purpose – and fixing products such as hair gel, hairspray, wax or styling water. You can also add hair clips to further secure loose hair.

Finish by spraying hairspray all over your head to ensure your bun stays polished and lasts for hours on end. Give it your personal touch by decorating the bun with a bow or leaving some strands loose if you want it to be more casual.
