Suarez shines more than ever in Barcelona

Suarez's love story for precious stones signs a new chapter with the exhibition of high (very high) jewelry that the house has just inaugurated in its boutique in Barcelona. This exceptional sample certifies that the diamond is the great philosopher's stone of the house, but it also highlights the enormous importance that the colored gem has had and has in the history of the firm that has had ambassadors of the stature of Sofia of Habsburg or Isabel Preysler, has carried out campaigns with models such as Nieves Álvarez and Laetitia Casta and was chosen by the Royal Family to design and create the wedding rings of the current Kings of Spain.

That attachment to the most exceptional stones and that fixation on the colored gem, says Juan Suárez, CEO of the company, is precisely its great differential. And also the reason why, along with diamonds in the most spectacular cuts and articulated in designs that are “always ergonomic and very wearable”, in Suarez's new high jewelry collection the most intense rubies also shine (always in pigeon blood red). and delicious cuts, including the heart), emeralds of an exceptional green (almost impossible and with the most sensational interior gardens) and the purest sapphires. They are set in highly mobile necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings that, despite their importance, also match everyday life to form an extensive collection of which thirty were already presented to the public yesterday in the boutique on Passeig de Gràcia. There will be a hundred: they are about to leave the workshop.

“Our fine jewelry collection, completely handmade, of course, is full of extraordinary pieces whose creation process begins with the most careful selection of the raw materials,” the house's master craftsmen tell those who come to see this exceptional exhibition. of the savoir faire of the firm with history (it all began in 1943, when Emiliano Suárez Faffián founded the first jewelry workshop store in Bilbao). To do this, they always travel to the markets of origin (Colombia, Brazil, Zambia, Burma, Ceylon...) to select only the stones that "meet uniform color qualities and sizes, in lots that are very difficult to obtain precisely due to the high number of gems needed in such high quantities.” And once the gem arrives, that exceptional gem with that exceptional size (99.5% of the candidates are discarded for not meeting their quality standards, this is their filter of excellence), in the Suarez workshops they decide what design will make it shine more. This is how unique jewels arise that, as Ruben García, the house's artisan jeweler, says, are ascribed to “two main and historical lines in Suarez. On the one hand, the geometric lines of art deco, and on the other, nature with Daphne (for the homonymous plant) and the Tris collection, inspired by the universal omen of good luck of the four-leaf clover, as the most iconic ”.

“Due to the number of gems needed, the ones for the necklaces are first chosen and then the pairs are selected to form the earrings,” he specifies. This is the fine jewelry (sustainable: it meets the conditions of the Kimberley Treaty, a certification system for the international trade of diamonds not from countries in conflict) from this firm that, after more than 75 years, can afford to control all stages of the jewelry creation process. And to summon (it happened yesterday) all of Barcelona to applaud his mastery.
