Singer James Morrison finds his wife and mother of his two daughters dead

The singer James Morrison has started 2024 in the worst possible way. The British man's wife and mother of his two daughters, Gill Catchpole, was found dead at her residence in Whitminster, Gloucestershire (United Kingdom), according to Daily Mail.

The aforementioned newspaper also indicates that it was the same interpreter of Broken Strings who found Catchpole hanged in his house last Friday, January 5. Although the autopsy has not yet officially confirmed the cause of death, it is suggested that it could be a case of hanging, according to statements by the coroner and pathologist in charge of the case.

Gill Catchpole, 45, had faced severe health problems in recent years. At the end of 2022, he underwent a kidney transplant that, despite saving his life, left significant consequences. Despite his health challenges, he had recently started a new catering business, and was facing the new year with enthusiasm and hope, according to statements from people close to the family to the British newspaper.

Whitminster police were alerted out of "concern for his welfare" days before the tragic news. Despite the efforts of paramedics Catchpole was pronounced dead at 9:37 a.m. Although there is no evidence of foul play, coroner Roland Wooderson has requested a postponement of his appearance before the judge, pending additional data from the toxicology report.

The couple married in 2006 and had two daughters, Elsie, 15, and Ada-Rose, 5. The love story between James Morrison and Gill began when she rented a room in the singer's mother's house. Morrison shared details of those first moments on the White Wine Question Time podcast two years ago. There he confessed that to win over Gill he sang Stevie Wonder songs to her on the guitar.

In 2015, Morrison suffered a severe blow, as his father, brother and nephew died in a short period of time. In an interview with The Independent at the time, the singer expressed how those losses "spiritually took my breath away" and led him to stop believing in the goodness of the world.
