Sarah Ferguson's first words after being diagnosed with malignant melanoma: "It was a shock"

A few hours ago the news broke in the British press that Sarah Ferguson has been diagnosed with malignant melanoma at the age of 64. A highly aggressive skin cancer, which is the most serious form. The Duchess of York learned that she suffered from this disease when several moles were analyzed at the same time that she was undergoing reconstructive breast surgery. It was at that moment that the doctors discovered it.

"It is undergoing further investigation to ensure this has been detected in the early stages," its spokesperson told Sky News. The ex-wife of Prince Andrew, younger brother of Charles III, already had to undergo surgery last summer after being diagnosed with breast cancer, despite not presenting symptoms. Now, she wanted to speak out on the matter.

Through her Instagram account, Sarah Ferguson has told her almost 700,000 followers how she feels at this difficult moment in her life. "I have been taking some time for myself, since I have been diagnosed with malignant melanoma," she began to relate along with a photograph in which she appears leaning on a railing in a river.

Before thanking his dermatologist for discovering melanoma, he noted that it is his "second cancer diagnosis within a year." Something that seems to have been a hard blow and a setback along the way.

"Naturally, another cancer diagnosis has been a shock, but I am in good spirits and grateful for the many messages of love and support," she revealed. Although news like this is never welcome, it seems that he is trying to handle it in the best possible way so as not to collapse.

And if they have been able to detect it, it is also thanks to their knowledge of these types of situations. "I think my experience underscores the importance of checking the size, shape, color and texture and appearance of new moles that may be a sign of melanoma and urge anyone reading this to be diligent," he added, sending a message to his followers.

In turn, she wanted to thank the team of doctors who have treated her for breast cancer and who are dealing with this new blow, and has revealed how she is living these days: "I am resting with the family at home now, "I feel blessed to have your love and support."

Sarah Ferguson is being treated at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London and is being looked after by oncologist Andrew Furness and dermatologist Catherine London. Now she just has to wait to see how her situation evolves.
