Russell Brand, one of the most controversial and controversial comedians in the United Kingdom, has been accused by four women of rape, mistreatment and emotional abuse. All of them have shared his chilling testimonies in an extensive investigation carried out by The Times, The Sunday Times and the Channel 4 television channel.
The four claim to have been attacked by the actor between 2006 and 2013, years in which he experienced his greatest moment of fame both in his native country and in Hollywood. His reputation as a "bad boy" preceded him, but even then many women accused the actor of being "controlling", "abusive" and "predatory".
Following these accusations, which the actor has flatly denied through a video he shared a few days ago through his public Instagram profile, some statements and testimonies from the past have begun to resurface that could complicate his situation at this time.
An old interview with his ex-wife, Katy Perry, letting it slip that she knew "the truth"; or Brand's own statements on her radio show, where he once suggested to a teenager that she throw a sex-themed party for her birthday.
This happened on his radio program The Russell Brand Show, on BBC Radio, in 2007. The actor was answering calls from his listeners when he picked up a call from a young woman who was looking for ideas to celebrate her 16th birthday.
"I guess at 16 you can't drink alcohol or take drugs, because it's illegal," the actor tells him, "but you would be legally allowed to have sexual partners, so I think the theme of the party should be legal sex." Not content with that, he suggests that he organize a vampire-themed party or a masquerade ball, because "it's erotic in its own way," but "appropriate for a 16-year-old girl."
These types of responses were not unusual on his program. In another video that has resurfaced, the comedian "jokes" about having sexual relations with women regardless of "their age, race or whether they are awake or not."
"That's the policy I use with women," he says, in the video, "Hello, there's a woman. Let's not mess around with things like age, race or whether they're awake or not. Let's cut to the chase and give them the night." of their lifes".
At other times on the show during those years, the presenter even tried to find women willing to have sexual relations with him. For the moment, the British public broadcaster has already announced that it has removed "some content" in which the comedian and actor appeared from its digital platforms. The decision comes shortly after YouTube suspended advertising revenue on brand-linked channels.
Following the journalistic investigation that brought these accusations to light last weekend, the London Metropolitan Police (Met) received a complaint from a woman in relation to an alleged sexual assault that occurred in the London neighborhood of Soho in 2003.
In England and Wales, most offenses tried by criminal courts have no statute of limitations.
