Priscilla Presley believes Michael Jackson married Lisa Marie just to "associate with Elvis"

On January 12, Lisa Marie Presley died at the age of 54 as a result of intestinal obstruction caused by a gastric bypass she underwent a few years ago. An unexpected death that shocked her entire family, but also the thousands of followers that Elvis's only daughter had around the world.

Her mother, Priscilla Presley, gave an extensive interview a few days ago to the well-known journalist Piers Morgan in which she confessed how she felt after the loss of her daughter, but also about how she lived her public life, which was not exempt from controversy. For example, her brief marriage to Michael Jackson, of which Elvis' widow always doubted her intentions.

"I never got to know him well," confesses Priscilla Presley, who, when asked about her daughter's marriage to the nicknamed "King of Pop," remembers how Lisa Marie herself had her own doubts, since she never saw him at home.

"I always thought Michael Jackson loved Elvis, or respected Elvis, and I always felt that having the name, being associated with the name through his daughter... I was worried, I told him that." Elvis' widow admits that she preferred that they had never married, as she felt that Michael Jackson was too "intrigued" by Elvis.

A thought not exclusive to Priscilla Presley, as Piers Morgan himself intercedes in the interview to affirm that he had always thought that the singer married Lisa Marie "because she was a Presley." She, according to her mother, was a fan of the Jackson 5 since she was a child, and thanks precisely to her father she managed to meet her idol, seven years older than her.

In 1992 they reconnected and, two years later, they married. A moment that also coincided with another controversy for the singer, as he had just been accused of abusing 13-year-old Jordan Chandler. Many believed that his marriage served as a distraction.

The widow of the king of rock also spoke about how she is handling her grief, also revealing that her daughter had gone through a very difficult few months after the death of her son, Benjamin Keough, who took his own life in 2020. The loss of her only son The man left the singer devastated, and according to her mother, he hinted that Lisa Marie was planning to end her life.

"Losing Ben was the hardest thing for her. She took her life. He was the love of her life. She adored him, she would have done anything for him," she said of her grandson.

On the day of his death, Elvis's widow remembers very emotionally that hours before, she already noticed that something was not right. Lisa Marie told him that her "belly hurt" and, hours later, she died in the hospital. "When I arrived, she was gone.  I can't get over it. I lost my mother, I lost my grandson, I lost my daughter. It's still a shock that we don't have her among us."

Priscilla also wanted to clarify rumors that indicated that she had had an arduous dispute with her eldest granddaughter, Riley Keough, over control of her daughter's assets, reiterating that they have managed to reach an agreement that benefits all parties; as well as respecting Lisa Marie's wishes.
