Lucas wanted: the parrot of an 80-year-old woman with depression after the death of her daughter

The program Y Ahora, Sonsoles, an afternoon show presented by the acclaimed journalist Sonsoles Ónega, gave voice this afternoon to a family torn apart by pain due to the loss of one of its members: a parrot named Lucas.

This is the story of Aurelia, an 80-year-old woman who has lost the person who has been her best friend for years due to a mistake in Pontevedra, Galicia. The woman went out to the balcony of her home and, when the bird came to land on her, she rushed and flew to the opposite sidewalk, on the same street. Although the woman's son ran down to get the disoriented animal, it was no longer there.

The family believes that someone could have stolen the animal, since everything happened very quickly. It should be said that the bird has all the papers in order (as established by the new legislation) and that it has a ring that certifies it, since it is a protected species, a red-tailed parrot.

According to what the woman and her daughter said in the Atresmedia program, the bird accompanied the woman in her daily life and was one of her fundamental pillars. Furthermore, the animal encouraged her and brightened her hours, since the old woman is going through a very difficult personal moment due to different personal episodes of hers.

''Lucas for my mother right now was the support of everything. Even though he had his children in front of him, Lucas was Lucas. For her, it is very special. "We are going to speak positively, they are going to give it to us," said the owner's daughter, visibly excited.

The woman cannot explain what happened to the animal and why it started to fly, since she had already gone out to the balcony many times with it and it had never left: ''I had done it many times. "I don't know what happened, she got scared."

Five days after the incident occurred, the family's situation is so critical and the woman's displeasure is so great that they have publicly offered a reward of 1,000 euros if he is returned to her.

They also wanted to make an appeal from the Antena 3 space to the people who live in the Galician city in case they see the animal, since the mother and daughter are sure that the parrot will not survive many more days without help in an environment urban like that.
