Lucía Echevarría clarifies that she has already settled the Treasury sanction confirmed by the TS

The writer Lucía Echevarría has clarified, in a letter addressed to La Vanguardia, that information from the Europa Press agency - also published by this newspaper - about a ruling from the Supreme Court that confirmed a sanction and a liquidation of the Treasury was not correct.

Echeverría points out firstly that "the amount of 268,026.86 euros referred to in the ruling was paid at the time and I am currently up to date with the payment of my obligations with the Tax Agency. Therefore, it is absolutely "false that "you have to pay" any amount in relation to the personal income tax corresponding to the 2010-2011 financial years."

The writer adds that "the amount mentioned in said news is made up in a substantial part of the tax fee, which was not disputed in the appeal that caused the ruling handed down by the Administrative Litigation Chamber of the Supreme Court, given that the "The question that arises is of an eminently legal nature and is limited to strictly procedural issues."

In her writing, the writer also expresses her "surprise and perplexity with the circumstance that the sentence was published in her media - among others - before it was notified to my representatives in the procedure and, therefore, before that I had knowledge of it through the press, without anyone from this media outlet contacting me to contrast essential aspects of the news" and criticizes the fact that "an event from the past limited to the private sphere, together with the biased character that was given to it - especially in its owner - intend to negatively impact my good name, prestige and reputation. In short, it is a publication that seeks

"undermine my personal and professional consideration in the eyes of public opinion, which constitutes an attack on my personal dignity and honor."

The Supreme Court (TS) has confirmed the liquidation and sanction agreements of the Treasury that the Regional Economic Administrative Court (TEAR) of Madrid ratified in 2019 for the writer Lucía Echeverría for almost 270,000 euros for the years 2010 and 2011 in the declaration of IRPF.

The ruling referred to in the information from Europa Press, from the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the TS, rejected the appeal presented by the writer and confirmed a ruling from the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM) of October 6, 2021, which ruled in favor of TEAR against Echevarría's claims.

According to the ruling of the TSJM, which Europa Press was also able to consult, the tax inspection carried out a settlement of 201,200.95 euros (166,524.63 in fees and 34,676.32 in late payment interest) for the years 2010 and 2011, to which added a penalty of 66,825.91, a total of 268,026.86 euros, an amount confirmed by the TS.

The writer, however, has clarified that "the amount of 268,026.86 euros referred to in the sentence was paid at the time" and that she is currently up to date with the payment of her obligations with the Tax Agency.
