How much money will Daniel Sancho receive from Spain after being found guilty of the death of Edwin Arrieta?

On Wednesday, April 17, the trial against Daniel Sancho for the alleged murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta in Thailand resumed with the testimonies of new witnesses who testify after the five-day break caused by the celebration of the Buddhist New Year festivities (Songkran ).

At the moment there is no sentence that determines the prison future of Rodolfo Sancho's son, but what is certain is that, whatever his sentence, he will receive financial assistance from Spain, as national prisoners do abroad.

Semana magazine has investigated a little more about the question of the aid that Daniel Sancho will receive once his prison future is decided and, from what they have been able to find out, Sancho Gracia's grandson would receive financial aid from the Government of Spain, the famous peculio -the store where prisoners shop-, which can range between 90 and up to a maximum of 120 euros per month, as it does with all national prisoners. However, he could also improve his prison conditions with other help.

Specifically, with the support offered by the 34 Foundation, dedicated to helping people in prison in countries where human rights matters are much more deficient and who, as could be the case of Sancho in the Asian country, do not know what It is important to have a certain economic capacity in prison.

From the foundation, they emphasize the importance of this aid, since it determines the ability of prisoners to survive in the prison in which they are found.

Daniel Sancho lacks financial aid, and only supports himself with the money provided by his parents, limited at all times to the strict rules of the Koh Samui penitentiary center. In his case, he is prevented from spending more than 13 euros a day. Right now, Daniel sleeps on a futon thanks to his father's money, as well as being able to change his menu in prison.

This second week will be decisive in the trial against Daniel Sancho, as there will be testimonies from crucial witnesses in the case, such as Police Chief Yuttakan Chenram, from the Surat Thani provincial police station and in charge of collecting the DNA evidence found in several locations on the island of Phangan, near Samui and where the alleged murder and dismemberment of Arrieta took place on August 2.

Police officer Rachata Chaisongkram, from the tourism department of the Surat Thani Provincial Police (Samui), and a doctor from the Phangan hospital will also testify. During the afternoon session, the messages on Daniel Sancho's mobile phone will also be analyzed.

The three hearings this week, from Wednesday to Friday, will again be held behind closed doors and with the judge prohibiting details of what happens in the small courtroom from being given.
